The Visitor
Posted in Movie | No Comments »charming and sad.
this movie is so weird and sweet and troubling. it made my heart grow three sizes.
i am really hit or miss with Adam Sandler, but this one fucking well HIT. hi-lar-ious. Kathy Bates and Henry Winkler rock my world.
dude, i saw this movie 4 times in the theater. just couldn’t get enough of it. LOVED IT.
i was REEEEAAALLY into this movie as a tween. probably helps that i identified with Ally Sheedy after seeing The Breakfast Club, and i was in an Asimov robot phase back in the day. i kind of don’t want to watch it again just in case my rosy memory gets tarnished.
pretty funny and zippy, although it all kind of falls through your hands by the end like spaghetti. i could spend all day looking at Tilda Swinton with makeup on. also, Brad Pitt has really excellent comic timing, turns out!
sweet and gorgeous and unselfconscious; Lee Pace is completely dreamy and the little girl is spectacular (never precocious). i am confused on how one could NOT love this movie. perfect and beautiful.
um…i get this from an artistic angle, and i genuinely love all the performances in this movie, but as a whole…this flick very gently stepped past me and kept on going. Mike White as an actor makes me feel weird just by existing, although there isn’t anything wrong with him per se, and this whole movie had that effect on me.
snappy and cute and not too terribly sappy. Ricky Gervais is a funny motherfucker, and completely adorable in this as well. extra half-star for cameo by Alan Ruck – when Cameron was in Egypt’s laaaand…let me Cameron gooooooooo…
adorable and much funnier than it even needed to be. “i love you so much it’s retarded”. the drunk girl is a goddamn comic genius.
although i am having trouble understanding a world where Kat Dennings is supposed to be the un-hot one. that girl looks like Scarlett Johansson, except not dead behind the eyes – she’s traffic-stoppingly gorgeous. the “hot girl” looks like a fucking teletubby.
